SK Chairman Chey Tae-won completed 100 happy talk sessions with members he pledged earlier this year. Chairman Chey held a "Happiness Talk" at Seorin Building in central Seoul on Dec. 18 for the 100th time with inside and outside directors of major related companies such as SK Corp.
On the previous day, the 99th happy talk was held in the form of a "visible radio" in which members are discussed in real time through an in-house broadcast.
With this, Chey kept his promise during his New Year’s meeting in January that he would hold 100 happy discussions within the year to "communicate directly with our members and discuss ways to further enhance the happiness of our stakeholders."
At the 100th Happy Talk, Chey said, "I was impressed by every 100 happy talk moments that I could feel the positive energy of the members with my skin," stressing that the happiness management pursued by SK should be not only about happiness for the members, but also the sustainability of the society in which we belong.
He made it clear that the goal of "happiness management" is to pursue happiness of members within a sustainable society, not just happiness of members of SK.
"In order for ‘happiness management’ to lead to tangible results rather than just slogans, ‘measurement and management’ are essential, just as general management does, and when we measure and analyze data related to our members’ happiness, we will increase efficiency and effectiveness in promoting happiness." said Chairman Chey.
"Happiness management, which Chairman Chey established as a key topic in the group’s management with the start of this year’s happy talk, has not only become verbal, but has led to substantial changes," said an SK official.
SK is currently working on a revision to designate the ultimate purpose of management as the happiness of its members in SKMS (SK Management System), which combines the group’s management philosophy and execution principles.
Also, SK University (tentative name) will be launched early next year, considering that its members make capacity development one of the biggest elements of happiness.
