LG Electronics announced on June 15 that it has supplied "LG LED Cinema Display" for the first time to the Taiwanese movie theater "Showtime Cinema."
LG Electronics is going to target global LED cinema markets by commercializing 'LG LED Cinema Display'.
Showtime Cinema has teamed up with LG Electronics to create an LED screen at a branch in Wenxin, Taichung City. The LED screen has about 300 seats, providing the best theater environment that has never been experienced before, including the vivid image quality of the "LG LED Cinema Display" as well as realistic stereoscopic sound.
"LG LED Cinema Display" passed all digital cinema-related test items such as image quality, sound quality, and content security functions and was certified by Digital Cinema Initiatives.
LG LED Cinema Display is 14 meters wide and 7 meters long and supports finely-detailed 4K (4,096 x 2,160) resolution. Compared to conventional projection-type digital projectors, the entire screen is expressed uniformly without any distortion. Due to the characteristics of LED displays, each pixel can turn on and off light on its own, which provides excellent color reproduction as well as light and dark ratio.
LG and Dolby Laboratories closely collaborated to integrate Dolby’s Integrated Media Server (IMS3000) with LG’s innovative LED Cinema Display.
Dolby’s IMS3000 allows movies to play in full Dolby Atmos to produce a wide soundstage that surrounds the audience by projecting sounds corresponding to the movement and position of objects on the screen.
Pairing Dolby Atmos with the vibrant, lifelike images of LG’s LED Cinema Display creates a more immersive experience that makes going to the movies even more memorable and magical.
Due to its ability to control each individual pixel, LG LED Cinema Display guarantees a superior contrast ratio and amazingly accurate color reproduction. Furthermore, LG LED Cinema Display meets the highest standards for content security and Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) certification.
