Ssangyong Motor unveiled its first EV teaser image on July 20.
Prior to its launch in the first half of next year, the company released a teaser image that graphically expresses its exterior design to promote new cars.
The company said it has attempted a new approach to body design to maximize efficiency for the nation's first midsize SUV electric vehicle with residential space and usability as a full-fledged family car.
The overall design adds a streamlined line that reflects aerodynamics. It pursued styling optimized for urban driving.
For the first time, it applied aluminum hoods (engine room cover) to achieve light weight and optimization of center of gravity. Ssangyong Motor's sealed radiator grille is designed to maximize energy efficiency.
The company explained that it attempted to take a biomimetrics approach that was proven in nature by utilizing shark fins and riblet shapes that minimize wind resistance.
"We are aiming to release the first electric car in the first half of next year," a company official said. "We expect it to bring a new wind to the market through its future-oriented interior and exterior design and differentiated product quality."
