Hana Bank announced on Aug. 26 that it has been selected again by the global financial media "The Asian Banker" as the "Best Retail Bank in South Korea," the highest award by a country in two years since 2018.

Asian Banker said Hana Bank has continued its financial growth based on stable management performance in 2019 and is strengthening its competitiveness in the digital environment by expanding its digital ecosystem with key strategic partners.

In addition, the bank was selected as the winner of the best retail bank in Korea for improving convenience of customers by expanding digital products and services in line with changes in consumers.

In detail, in terms of creating a digital ecosystem, Hana Bank has provided differentiated services to platform companies with high market dominance, such as Fintech, payment settlement and distribution, tailored to customers' tastes such as currency exchange and loans, and established the global digital banking network in Indonesia with Naver's affiliate Line Financial Asia.

Along with this, Asian Banker highly evaluated the fact that Hana Bank is providing GLN services in Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam along with Taiwan's largest duty-free shop Everrich.

In particular, GLN, which is providing services starting with Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam in 2019, plans to expand its services to major Asian countries such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia in 2020 to build an Asian Payment Hub, expanding its partner countries beyond the Americas to Europe.

Asian Banker also noted Hana One Q Credit Loan and 'Credit Loan Transfer' services, which were very popular in the mobile loan market in 2019, and automated processes that can be extended on mobile without visiting branches.

In the future, Hana Bank plans to strengthen the composition of its products, ranging from credit loans to monthly rental limit checks and mortgage limit checks, to enhance its competitiveness in mobile loans.

In addition, the bank plans to further expand its non-face-to-face products and services by strengthening artificial intelligence functions based on the big data platform to distribute digital marketing tools in its branches to manage customers who only trade on digital channels without visiting branches.

Therefore, it is also considering a system that can directly communicate with individual customers through digital channels, including QR code-based promotion, attracting collective loans through digital and mobile branches, and recruiting new customers.

"In the rapidly changing digital environment, we will continue to maintain our reputation as the best bank in Korea in name and reality with innovative product development and high-quality services," a bank official said.
