SEOUL, KOREA - LG Electronics’ washing machine and refrigerator models were named as the “2013 Product of the Year” in Portugal. The company announced on January 27 that its drum washing machine (model named F1495BD) and refrigerator (GB5240AVAZ) scored high in the areas of product attractiveness, ease of use, degree of product satisfaction, and innovativeness.
The survey was conducted by a market research firm TNS with 2,300 Portugal consumers with age from 18 to 60. The survey dealt with products sold in Portugal from March to September 2012.
The LG drum washing machine features an independent powerful six-motion performance and a delicate hand-wash effect. With the Direct Drive (DD) motor, the drum washer received an A+++ rating in energy efficiency.
The LG refrigerator has the cold-room on top and the freezer on the bottom. By combining a refrigerator and a water purifier, it allows users to drink cold water without waiting.

LG 세탁기ㆍ냉장고, 포르투갈서 '올해의 제품'
LG전자 세탁기, 냉장고가 포르투갈에서 '2013 올해의 제품'에 선정됐다.
27일 LG전자에 따르면 이 회사 드럼세탁기(모델명: F1495BD)와 냉장고(모델명: GB5240AVAZ)는 제품의 매력도, 쉬운 사용성, 제품 만족도 및 혁신성에서 높은 평가를 받았다.
이번 조사는 시장조사기관 TNS가 포르투갈 소비자 중 18~60세까지 총 2300명을 선정해 지난 해 3월부터 9월까지 출시된 제품을 대상으로 진행됐다.
선정된 LG 드럼세탁기는 독자적인 6모션 기능의 강력하고 섬세한 손빨래 효과를 내는 것이 특징이다. 다이렉트 드라이브(DD) 모터의 고효율 기술력을 탑재해, A+++의 높은 에너지 효율을 제공한다.
LG 냉장고는 위쪽에 냉장실을 아래쪽에는 냉동실을 배치한 제품이다. 이 제품은 냉장고와 정수기를 결합해 차가운 물을 바로 마실 수 있도록 했다. 또 문을 유선형으로 설계하는 '제로 클리어런스 디자인'을 적용해 문을 90도로 열어도 벽에 부딪치지 않아 작은 부엌에서도 사용이 가능하다.
올해의 제품은 전 세계에서 3백만 명 이상의 소비자가 직접 투표를 해 한 해 동안 가장 혁신적인 제품을 선정하는 최대 규모의 글로벌 소비자 평가 프로그램이다. 1987년 프랑스에서 시작됐고 최근 30개 이상의 국가에서 진행되고 있다.
LG전자 관계자는 "올해의 제품 로고를 매장, 카탈로그, 웹사이트 등 마케팅에 활용할 수 있어 유럽 시장 확대에 기여할 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.
