SEOUL, KOREA - The hottest keyword bandied around in the latest 2013 CES trade show held in Las Vegas was "4K UHD," indicating a digital video format of 8.3-megapixel (3840 x 2160) ultra-high definition television. 4K in 4K UHD represents 4,000 horizontal lines (3,840, to be exact).
Although most computer users now are not so familiar with the term, it is a matter of time it will become a household name just like the word HD has evolved into a familiar abbreviation to us.
To take advantage of the emerging trend, Pandora TV has launched a new version of "KM Player" capable of supporting the 4K UHD standard. Having already secured more than a 200-million user base worldwide, KM Player has added two features to its new version 3.5, including the 4K UHD replay and FTP live streaming feature.
Chung Tae-shik, Pandora TV's executive in charge of KM Media sales, said, "Through the latest upgrade, we could provide better video quality. Within this year, we will also offer a cloud-based service so that our users could enjoy video on any device they choose."
