SEOUL, KOREA – Korea’s telecoms service provider SK Broadband has successfully swung back into the black, posting a consolidated net profit for the first time in 2012.
On Monday, SK Broadband announced that it raked in a net profit of KRW 22.5 billion.
Its 2012 sales gained 8.6% year-on-year to KRW 2.5 trillion while its operating profit during the same period shot up 25.7% year-on-year to KRW 81.6 billion.
SK Broadband explained that the number of ultra-high-speed Internet and IPTV subscribers grew and its enterprise business expansion translated into increases in sales, operating profit and net profit.
The number of SK Broadband Internet service subscribers went up by 200,000.
With its improved IPTV services resulting in an increase of 520,000 in the number of IPTV subscribers, SK Broadband’s ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) continued its upward trajectory, bolstering the company’s growth momentum.
Along with SK Broadband’s efforts for coverage expansion to take its business-to-business (B2B) projects to new heights, its customer base has broadened, thereby jacking up its annual growth to the 20% range for three straight years.
