Seoul, Korea - LG Electronics announced on the 30th that the company is adding a new business division to its organization chart from July 1st.
LG Electronics is consolidating Car Business Department dealing with infotainment parts, Energy Components Business Department that develops motors, inverters and converters for electric vehicles and an automotive parts designing and engineering company, V-ENS, into the Vehicle Components (VC) Business Division.
The company explained that the decision was to strengthen the company’s automotive parts business capacity by creating synergy from integrating all automotive parts related organizations. The departments to be placed under the VC Business Division will be renamed into In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) Department, HVAC & Motor (H&M) Department and Vehicle Engineering (VE) Department.
CEO of V-ENS, Woojong Lee, is appointed to head the VC Business Division. Lee is an expert in automotive parts business, and used to manage High-Tech Business Division at LG CNS and serve as the CEO of V-ENS. Lee was given the title of President with at LG Electronics, showing how highly the company is regarding the automotive electronics business.
This decision is interpreted as the company having identified automotive parts business as the new growth engine, after TV, mobile phone and home appliances.
LG전자, VC사업본부 신설…자동차 부품 사업 본격화
LG전자(대표 구본준)는 1일자로 자동차부품 사업을 담당하는 `VC(Vehicle Components)사업본부`를 신설하고 5개 사업본부 체제로 개편한다고 30일 밝혔다.
이번 조치는 관련 사업 조직을 통합한 새로운 사업본부를 통해 자동차부품 사업의 시너지를 창출하기 위한 것이다. 특히 TV, 휴대폰, 가전 등에 이어 자동차부품 사업을 새로운 성장동력으로 본격 육성하기 위한 것으로 풀이된다.
LG전자는 △차량용 인포테인먼트 부품 사업을 하는 HE사업본부 산하 카(Car)사업부 △전기차용 모터, 인버터, 컴프레서 등을 개발하는 CEO 직속 EC(Energy Components)사업부 △1일자로 합병하는 자동차부품 설계 엔지니어링 회사 V-ENS를 통합해 `VC사업본부`를 신설한다.
회사 측은 자동차부품 관련 조직을 통합해 시너지를 창출, 자동차부품 사업 역량을 강화하기 위한 것이라고 밝혔다. 사업본부 내 각 사업부의 명칭은 △IVI(In-Vehicle Infotainment)사업부 △H&M(HVAC & Motor)사업부 △VE(Vehicle Engineering)사업부로 변경한다.
VC사업본부장에는 V-ENS 대표인 이우종 사장을 선임했다. 이우종 사장은 자동차부품 사업에 정통한 전문가로 LG CNS 하이테크사업본부장, V-ENS 대표 등을 역임했다. 특히 이번에 사업본부장에 선임되면서 사장으로 승진했다. 신규 사업본부에 힘을 실어주기 위한 인사로 풀이된다.
한편 IVI사업부장에는 김진용 전무, VE사업부장은 김준홍 상무가 선임됐다. H&M사업부장은 이우종 사장이 겸임한다.
