BUSAN, KOREA - Hutchison Korea Terminals, the operating company for Jaseongdae Dock, Korea's first container-only pier in Busan, has offered the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Busan Metropolitan City government, and Busan Port Authority that it is interested in participating in a development project for the No. 1 and 2 North Busan Port.
According to Busan Port Authority on July 22, Hutchison Korea Terminals made an offer to invest 12 trillion won in redeveloping the two obsolete port facilities. Hutchison Korea said in the proposal, "If we are allowed to participate in the simultaneous redevelopment project, we can resolve the financing problem by using the money from selling the land plots in Jaseongdae Dock."
With the total area of 748,000 square meters, Jaseongdae Dock is considered one of the best redevelopment sites in Busan given its location facing the ocean with proximity to Busan downtown.
