Thus, Korea and Qatar get to construct a government-level channel for exchange and cooperation in the field of IT. Both countries will hold an IT cooperative committee regularly for exchange in various fields of mobile communication, the Internet superhighway, e-government, information protection and software.
Minister Roh, Jun-Hyong and Secretary-General Hessa Al Jaber exchanged extensive ideas of cooperation among IT enterprises of both countries for several projects. The projects include constructing a u-city that the Qatar government is planning, cooperation in the highly advanced IT field of WiBro and DMB, Qatar's investment into excellent IT companies of Korea, and mutual exchange of technology and human resources between both countries.
In addition, the Ministry of Information and Communication participated in the Korea-Qatar business forum, where it introduced high-tech Korean IT services of WiBro and DMB together with the status of Korean IT policies and development. It also held an exhibition of high-tech IT technology related with u-city deveopment jointly with the Ministry of Construction and Transportation. This was located at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha, Qatar. The exhibition was held in order to create a chance that Korean IT companies can participate in the project of constructing a u-city in Qatar.
President Roh Moo-hyun and several figures from the IT and other industries of Qatar visited the exhibition, and considered it a success.
Many people of Qatar who visited the exhibition said that it was a good opportunity for them to have access to the Korean IT technology, and that they would like to visit Korea to experience the development of excellent Korean IT technology.
Minister Roh Jun-hyong's diplomatic activities in Qatar this time were a good chance to advertise excellent Korean IT technology and products to Qatar and to increase the interest of the Qatar government and civil enterprise in Korean IT companies and products. Therefore, Korean IT companies' advancement into Qatar and export to Qatar are expected to go up.
