Apple’s first smartwatch 'Apple Watch' was sold out in just six hours after being launched. Thanks to Apple’s joining of the smartwatch market, it would contribute to expanding the market itself, as well as intensifying competition.
It merits attention how the competition between Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Gear will evolve. Samsung released its smartwatch Galaxy Gear in the fall of 2013 and has since dominated the global smartwatch market with its share once hitting over 70 percent.
On April 10, Apple launched online pre-order sales of Apple Watch in nine countries, including the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, and Japan. Apple CEO Tim Cook is quoted as saying, “Consumer response to Apple Watch is hotter than expected.”
Samsung is now working on its seventh smartwatch which will have a round design under the project named “Orbis.”It will support wireless recharging and mobile pay service Samsung Pay.
