According to Global Times, the Google case has not closed yet. Google argued it had been attacked in China, and Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV, Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Germany) stated, "German companies have been attacked by Chinese spies just like Google." In addition, officials from Germany suspect thirty thousand of Chinese residents residing in Germany are spies, and call them "spies hiding behind the scenes."
Handelsblatt, which is the leading German commercial economy newspaper, published on January 16, the warning from the BfV, and claimed that German companies have been facing attacks from China. When an official of the BfV was interviewed he said, "Since 2005 China has sent spies to Germany, and now 60 percent of industrial spies residing in Germany are Chinese."
Also the BfV is "specially alarmed" of German companies – mainly small and middle-sized businesses – had been the victims of industrial espionage and are the "best prey" for Chinese spies. Most of the Chinese spies are Chinese students, scholars, professors, diplomats, and engineers are working in various positions of national science institutions and private sectors. This will lead to incalculable damage against German companies.
Some of the officials from Germany are making accusations about Chinese industrial espionage without any evidence. This has led to bad relations between China and Germany. China has cautioned Germany against spreading propaganda about Chinese spies, this is possibly just the tip of the iceberg between these two troubled countries.
