Both next generation displays and nanotechnology can be seen at once at the International Exhibition and Symposium in Daegu and GyeongGi province. This annual exhibition, the International Meeting on Information Display (IMID), is the country's one and only international display exhibition, and started in the year 2000. IMID 2007 is held from August 29 to September 1 at Daegu Exhibition Convention Center (EXCO) for four days. On this same date, The 5th International Nano Technology symposium and exhibition, Nano Korea 2007, opened at KINTEX in GyeongGi province.
Exactly 144 companies from 6 countries including America, Japan, Germany, and France participated in the IMID2007 and this exhibition will be the biggest event in the largest scale of all since its first exhibition in 2001. Samsung Electronics, LG Philips LCD, and LG Electronics SDI showcase high quality displays such as the 120 Hz LCD and PDPs. Equipment companies are showing their newest technology and products there as well. At this exhibition, a scholarship competition will also be held where 456 dissertations from 18 countries will be presented.
Nano Korea 2007 is held under the theme of Nano Technology, Invitation to the Future. The president of KAIST Seo Nam-pyo and CEO of Bell Research Center Kim Jong-hoon will start with an opening lecture and address the next generation of nanotechnology's future and vision in symposium and exhibition.
LG Philips LCD's 120Hz LCD will be given the Best Information Display Award for being the top product during the exhibition. LG Electronics' TFT will also be awarded in fundamental original technology area. The fourth Nano Korea Award was also won by LG Chemistry that invented high durability and light discoloration film.
