The People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy (PSPD) filed additional complaint with the prosecution in connection with allegations of dereliction of duty and stock price manipulation of Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong in the merger of Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries.
In addition, the PSPD also filed a complaint against officials of relevant organizations, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Korea Audit and Inspection Board, with the prosecution over the alleged manipulation of Everland's public property.
Holding a press conference on Nov. 1, the PSPD said that important new facts and evidence were revealed to prove the accused’s charges in the process of the merger of the two companies.
In June 2016, the PSPD accused Samsung Group's chief executive family, including Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, and management of the former Samsung C&T, on suspicion of dereliction of duty and stock price manipulation related to the merger of the two companies.
The new facts and evidence cited by the PSPD were the inspection results of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, including the results of the second trial of former Minister of Health and Welfare Moon Hyung-pyo and Hong Wan-sun, former head of the fund management headquarters at the National Pension Corporation related to the Samsung merger, and the decision on sanctions by the Securities and Futures Commission related to the disclosure omission of the call options agreement by Samsung Biologics.
Finally, it strongly criticized the allegation that Samsung Everland manipulated the official standard land price by raising the price from 85,000 won per square meter in 2015 to 400,000 won.
