Korean Air successfully completed the delivery of Pablo Picasso's works, the "master of cubism," by a KE504 cargo plane that departed Paris on April 23 and arrived at Incheon International Airport.
Picasso's works, which were transported four times by Korean Air since April 16, are 110 pieces, including oil paintings, sculptures, and ceramics, weighing a total of 22 tons and are estimated to be worth trillions of won.
Korean Air made every effort to safely transport Picasso's world-class works, called the best artist of the 20th century.
Security was strengthened by carefully inspecting the seal condition of the works, and the closest parking lot was placed to minimize ground movement.
In addition, it preemptively prepared for contingencies by sharing real-time cargo information at departure and destination using enterprise collaboration systems using state-of-the-art IT technologies such as Google Workspace.
Picasso's works, which were transported by Korean Air, will be displayed at the "Special Exhibition for the 140th Anniversary of Pablo's Birth," which introduces Picasso's works, which are owned by the National Picasso Museum in Paris, from May 1 to August 29.
Picasso, the founder of Cubism, is a master of contemporary art that captures a new, multi-layered view of things on a canvas. Korean Air will also do its best to ensure safe transportation of cargo flights back home after the exhibition.
Korean Air has acquired CEIV Pharma, which proves the expertise and excellence of air transportation of medicines such as COVID-19 vaccines, from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and plays a leading role in transporting medical supplies and protective materials.
