SEOUL, KOREA - Korea's major home electronics companies are releasing a string of smart home electronics items using NCF technology. A good example of these smart items is a smart rice cooker that allows users to preset cooking times by downloading apps through smartphones and attaching it to the NFC tag of the cooker.
Another example is a smart refrigerator that features automatic diagnosis and remote after-sales service. Among the front-runners in this move is LG Electronics which released an NFC-using washing machine on June 11, first in Korea.
NFC is a technology that enables two-way transmission of data in a distance of less than 10 meters.
The brand-new washing machine is a 13K model with a shine silver color that has a retail price of 1.74 million won. One of its innovative functions is one-touch smart diagnosis. If users attach their smartphones on NFC tags of the washing machine, it can make the diagnosis of the malfunction within 2-3 seconds.
