The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) held an inauguration ceremony of Lee Young-soo, the 10 president newly appointed at its headquarters located in Cheonan on Dec. 9.
The new president Lee has served as a manager and a director of the Korea National Cleaner Production Center and a senior research director while working for the KITECH since 1995. President Lee will be serving his three-year term until December 2016.
“It’s a great responsibility to take on such an important position when the role of small and medium-sized companies and enterprises is becoming increasingly crucial.”, President Lee said during his inaugural address.
Lee also pointed out three major goals: 1) to keep the KITECH strictly faithful to the basics 2) to develop and commercialize technology from small and mid-sized companies 3) to strengthen the global system for cooperation. “The function of R&D planning for industrial source technology will be enhanced as a prior step to the development of technology and the threshold for supporting technology developed by small and medium-sized companies will be drastically lowered to help the commercialization of R&D and technology.”, he added. “To do so, a future strategic technology planning department will be established and existing research and commercialization sectors will be unified.”
“I will develop the KITECH as a world-leading practical research institute by enhancing the competitiveness of small and mid-sized firms through on-site support for R&D and technology. “, he concluded.
