SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors saw their combined market share in Europe fall slightly last month.
According to the European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA), Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors achieved a market share of 6.5 percent in Europe last month, down 0.1 percentage point from 6.6 percent a month ago.
Hyundai Motor’s market share there remained unchanged at 3.6 percent, while that of Kia Motors fell to 2.9 percent in September from 3.0 percent a month ago.Hyundai Motor sold 45,140 units last month, up 5.8 percent year on year, while Kia Motors 36,553 units, up 4.0 percent year on year.
For the January-September period of this year, Hyundai Motor sold 326,285 units, down 0.3 percent from a year ago, while Kia Motors sold 272,600 units, up 5 percent year on year.
Despite the increase in their monthly sales, their market share in Europe fell since their sales growth was lower than the average growth of the European car market which was estimated at 6.1 percent.
In the meantime, Volkswagen sold 299,592 last month in Europe, enjoying a 6.2-percent positive growth. Peugeot Citroen Group, Renault, and Nissan also savored a positive growth of 9.9, 10.3 and 16.6 percent, respectively.
