K-pop girl group Nine Muses talked about their uniqueness compared to Girl’s Generation.
Nine Muses held a showcase to commemorate the release of their special summer album <9MUSES S/S EDITION> at Elui night club in Chungdam-dong, Seoul on July 2.
The group’s title track ‘Hurt Locker’ is composed by Erik Lidbom, Herbie Crichlow and Anne Judithwik all of whom also worked with Girls’ Generation for their hit songs ‘Genie’ and ‘Catch Me If You Can’. So, Nine Muses’ summer edition album has many similarities with Girls’ Generation’s past albums and it is inevitable for Nine Muses to avert questions regarding the matter as Girls’ Generation is anticipating a comeback next week.
Minha addressed the question and explained, “Most our songs have been about a girl who got dumped. We are often called as ‘Dumped Muses’ as we sing about a girl’s emotion after a heartbreaking break-up which would be our plus point”.
She continued, “Many K-pop girl groups are making a comeback this summer and most of them have cool and fresh images. However, our song is about a girl’s sad emotion who got hurt by a bad guy. With the spirit of fire fight fire, we will heat you up”.
Hyuna talked about joining the battle of K-pop girl group and said, “I feel thrilled and excited to see Nine Muses on the line-up. We hope to promote our album with healthy mind and body.”
Meanwhile, Nine Muses has released their first summer album as an eight-member group with Sojin and Keumjo joining the team. Under the concept of ‘Very Special Summer Story of Nine Muses’, the album includes a 92-page photo book and EP.
Nine Muses’ newest EP ‘Hurt Locker’ maximizes the seasonal characteristics of summer and it is their first album in five months since they released a mini-album <Drama> in January. The song is about a girl who changes over time after feeling hurt by a bad man. Many speculate whether Nine Muses will make any significant achievement since many distinguished K-pop girl group, including Girls’ Generation, Wonder Girls, Girl’s Day and A Pink, anticipate a comeback in July.
