Jeju Air achieved a record-high operating profit of 28.8 billion won in the first half of this year. The low-cost airline released its preliminary first-half results on July 22.
It posted sales of 286.9 billion won in the first half of this year, up 22 percent year on year, with its operating profit estimated at 28.8 billion won, up 851 percent from the same period last year. Ordinary profit also jumped 578 percent year on year to 32.3 billion won.
Domestic flight services chalked up sales of 92.9 billion won, accounting for 32 percent in total sales, while international flights created sales of 174.3 billion won, accounting for 61 percent. Other sales amounted to 19.7 billion won, or 7 percent of total sales.
A Jeju Air official said, “In the first half of this year, our aircraft fleet number exceeded 20, first among Korean low-cost carriers, clearing the way for us to achieve the economies of scale. Thanks to stable cost reduction and the decline in oil prices, we achieved record-high results in the first half.”
