KOTRA Vancouver to Host ‘the 2nd Canada Korea IT-TECH Roadshow’

Selection of promising items after pre-demand review and one-on-one buyer meeting with relevant Korean IT businesses.

 

[Vancouver]  Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Vancouver office will host 'the 2nd Canada Korea IT-TECH Roadshow' in order to support Korean IT companies in their efforts to enter overseas markets and to promote exports. It will be held for two days starting on July 11th at the Delta Burnaby Hotel & Conference Centre (Grand Villa Ballroom) in Burnaby, BC
.
The event aims to selecting promising items with high demand in the local market after reviewing the pre-demands of buyers and inviting relevant Korean IT enterprises to hold one on one business meetings with local buyers after a “matching” process.

Jung Hyung-shik, General Director of KOTRA Vancouver explained, “Local companies are able to explore Korea’s unique and dynamic high-tech products and services through KOTRA’s network. The 2nd Canada Korea IT-TECH Roadshow is an important IT trading platform for Korean production lines and Canadian companies". He continued, "this is a golden opportunity to form partnerships for collaborations on technology and production with future suppliers to North America".

The 2nd Canada Korea IT-TECH Roadshow is the only B2B trade fair in North America to interact with Korean IT e-commerce companies.

It is expected that tariffs on Korean exports to Canada will be immediately or gradually eliminated to include all imports from Korea by 2020, in accordance with the full implementation of the Korea-Canada Free Trade Agreement that took effect on January 1, 2015. In 2018, nearly 90 percent of products are free of tariffs with the rest to be phased out by 2020.

The first session of the event on July 11th will be attended by local VIPs and about 50 guests. Beginning at 10:00 a.m, Jung Hyung-shik, General Director KOTRA Vancouver will open the event, after which Kim, Gunn  Consul General of the Republic of Korea and Joan Elangovan, Executive Director of the Asia Pacific Centre, Vancouver Economic Commission, will offer talks. This will be followed by talks from Korean IT professionals. The second session of the event will feature 1:1 consultations with participating Korean companies and 50 local buyers.

The second day of the event on the 12th will feature a second round of buyer meetings and visits to large companies in Vancouver such as Bestbuy, London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart, The Source, and Visions.

Fifteen Korean companies participated in the first event last year, generating 100 million dollars in about 50 consultation cases. 
 
Korean companies participating in this event include 12 promising export manufacturers of electronics, home appliances, IoT, and IT new technology products such as Grib, a smart home automation company, and IVS, an intelligent video & sound CCTV company. In Canada, major distribution network purchasers, vendors and buyers will be participating in the event.
