Samsung Electronics says, "We are analyzing the causes."

Some users of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S7 argued that after upgrading their mobile operating system (OS) to Android 8.0 Oreo, they are experiencing problems such as heating, infinite booting and main board failure. Infinite booting refers to the problem of turning the power off and on itself.

"Internet communities and others are claiming that the main board of the Galaxy S7 was failed after the update of Oreo," Yonhap News Agency reported in a recent issue.

"After updating to Oreo in early June, there was a problem with rebooting, and the screen was turned off later and forced booting became impossible," said Han (32) who used the Galaxy S7.

About 100 people joined the "Samsung Galaxy S7 Main Board Fault" Naver cafe, which was created by Han on Feb. 28.

A user complained, "Owing to the problem of unlimited booting, we were forced to change the device with the Galaxy S9.” Another user said, “After a few days of OS update, the main board went out immediately. I thought it was bad luck."

"The service center imposes responsibility to customers by asking them to replace main boards at 200,000 won,” said Han.

Users claiming to have suffered damage will see Samsung`s response and plan to file a petition with the consumer agency.

"The industry is discussing the possibility that Samsung Electronics may have been negligent in verifying compatibility of OS for older models that were released two years ago," said Yonhap.

"Because many users experience the same inconvenience after updating Oreo, it seems that the OS and apps that were on the Galaxy S7 are not compatible," an industry source said.

Regarding this matter, Samsung Electronics said that it should look into whether OS updates are the cause or there are other causes.
