IKEA said on Sept. 27 that it will voluntarily recall the Calypso (CALYPSO) ceiling lamps sold since August 1, 2016. The products can be refunded or exchanged in full at IKEA store regardless of receipt.
IKEA conducted an investigation into the products following a consumer report that the glass lamp had fallen from the ceiling and decided to recall the CALYPSO ceiling lamps that were produced within the specified time frame.
The recall targets are those produced between June 20, 2016 and Nov. 5, 2017 with the production number of 1625-1744.
"It is unlikely that an accident will occur, but the presence of a risk is enough to implement a recall. As a precautionary measure for customer safety, we decided to recall the products produced during the period,” said Emilie Knoester, a lighting and home smart manager of IKEA.
