The ruling Democratic Party of Korea criticized Samsung Biologics for filing an administrative lawsuit, protesting against the Korea Securities and Futures Commission's conclusion on accounting fraud, saying, "We cannot suspect its intention to minimize the impact on the ongoing trial on Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong."
"The role of Samsung Biologics is not to waste time in administrative litigation but to fulfill its self-reflection and social responsibility," Democratic Party spokesman Hong Ik-pyo said in a briefing.
Hong stressed, "The nature of the case was that it disturbed the order of the capital market by pursuing the private interest of winning a managerial control through the accounting fraud, which caused the damage to individual investors."
He continued to say, "The people's demand for Samsung, the world's top-class company, should not be forgotten that they want the company to take social responsibility and conduct ethical management based on their thorough self-reflection for disrupting market order."
"The Democratic Party is urging the prosecution and the court not to be swayed by Samsung's tricks or deliberate delays anymore, but to conduct a firm and thorough investigation and trial that suits the public's standards," Hong added.
