Sonata engine is on fire / CBC News Capture

[Vancouver] Vancouver CBC News reported on March 7 that Hyundai Motor is not recalling its faulty engine.

In an interview, the media pointed out that Hyundai Motor Company, which was involved in Tucson's engine accident in January, was unethical.

"The engine suddenly shut off without warning while driving at 120 km/h on the highway," driver John Killoran said in an interview. "The exit was nearby so we could save our lives."

He said the 2012 Hyundai Tucsonwas not included in the recall list when the accident occurred.

Through an interview with an official at the National Motor Vehicle Safety Center, the media also pointed out that Hyundai Motor is taking too long to select the vehicle subject to recall.

"We are very concerned about Hyundai and Kia`s attitude toward consumer safety issues," said an official at the U.S. Automobile Safety Center. "Hyundai and KIa`s recall this time is part of millions of vehicles operating in the U.S. and Canada."

The media also pointed out that Hyundai and Kia pass the cost of engine replacement onto the owner of the vehicle.

Toronto's Nowlan Maynes had an accident where the car engine stopped while driving his father's Tucson on the Ontario highway. "Hyundai Motor has refused to pay 5,600 dollars for engine replacement as the warranty period for the car has expired," he said.

Four years have passed since the first recall of Hyundai and Kia Motors, but recall vehicles continue to increase. Hyundai Motor has added 572,000 Teta 2 engine recalls and 77,000 Canadian engine recalls by 2017.

Last week, Hyundai recalled more than 500,000 vehicles in the United States. Hyundai also recently recalled 30,000 Tucson vehicles in Canada.

The media said, "There are many lawsuits in the U.S. regarding the payment of engine repairs and replacement," adding, "The Kia Motors is embroiled in a class action lawsuit with car owners equipped with Theta engines in 2016.

Meanwhile, on February 20, the prosecution launched a forced investigation into allegations that it had covered up a flaw in Hyundai Motor's Theta 2 engine.

Hyundai Motor is also currently on the investigation list of the U.S. prosecutors regarding the adequacy of the recall of Theta 2 engine.
