Samsung SDI participated in a motor show in Frankfurt, Germany, to showcase its core capabilities to lead the electric vehicle era and display various battery products to tap into the European electric car market.
Samsung SDI made an announcement on Sept. 10 that it participated in the "2019 Frankfurt Motor Show" (IAA 2019), which was held in Frankfurt, Germany, to showcase its technical capabilities in battery products and major materials.
Samsung SDI's exhibition concept for the Frankfurt Motor Show is "Charged for Auto 2.0," consisting of two stories: Core Competency and Technology Innovation.
At the exhibition, Samsung SDI introduced the technology flow of major battery materials such as High-Ni anode materials and Si (Silicon) cathode materials, drawing attention from the carmakers of finished cars.
It also introduced innovative products such as high-capacity, high-powered battery cells and modules that can travel 600 to 700 kilometers on a single charge, and packs (module collections).
If these innovative products are applied, Samsung SDI is expected to solve many problems such as mileage and price that the auto industry is concerned about, and speed up the popularization of electric vehicles.
"It is important to manage price, performance, safety, and supply chain in the era of Auto 2.0, which is represented by electro-magnetic compatibility, self-driving technology, and ultra-connectivity. Samsung SDI will lead the Auto 2.0 era by continuously innovating its core capabilities," said Vice President Kim Jung-wook of Samsung SDI's Strategy Marketing Division.
