"Even though the physical space between each other is somewhat distant owing to the COVID-19 crisis, the psychological space that encourages each other will be much closer."
Hyundai Motor Group will set up a "COVID-19 Comprehensive Situation Room" at each affiliate and make all-out efforts to overcome the new coronavirus infection cases.
Chung Eui-sun, executive vice chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, sent an e-mail to executives and employees of Hyundai Motor Group on March 3, saying, "I think you're having a very hard time due to unexpected coronavirus developments, anxiety about the health of your precious family members and concerns about the company's management."
"Although temporary business disruptions will be inevitable due to the influence of the COVID-19, we are fully prepared to overcome the crisis at hand as well as achieve early management stability in the future by establishing various contingency plans."
"If we all do our best to respond to the emergency situation in unison, we will be able to recover as soon as possible," he said. "It will also serve as an opportunity for the group's fundamentals to become stronger." He also said that it would be necessary for all of us to respond more resolutely with confidence and hope that we can fully overcome the crisis.
“The company will actively cooperate with the government-led response system, while also actively supporting the company to ensure the health and safety of its executives and employees by mobilizing all available resources,” Chung said, pledging to make utmost efforts to help employees minimize worries and anxiety and enjoy a stable daily life.
Chung also thanked the labor union for rolling up its sleeves to prevent the epidemic. “We also express our deep gratitude to the labor and management for working together to overcome the crisis,“ Chung said.
