Two employees of Samsung Electronics were diagnosed with the COVID-19 infection right after their business trip to Brazil.
According to Samsung Electronics on April 1, employees of the wireless business division at Gumi plant were tested positive on the same day after returning from Brazil on March 30.
They left for Brazil together in early February for business trips there. After returning to Korea, they maintained the self-isolation status, and it was reported that there was no access to local businesses during the period.
Samsung Electronics' Manaus plant in Brazil has been shut down since March 24, and its Campinas plant has been shut down since March 30.
A Samsung Electronics employee who works for the same business unit was confirmed after a business trip to Brazil. A Suwon plant employee was confirmed after a business trip to Europe.
Both cases are said to have nothing to do with the spread of virus infections at local workplaces.
"We have already completed preventive measures at our workplaces," a Samsung Electronics official said. "We have not suspended operations of production lines at our workplaces and we are doing our best to ensure the safety of our employees."
